Hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating) is a medical condition where sweat glands, primarily under the arms, become overactive and create excessive sweating virtually all the time. To deal with their hyperhydrosis, many people avoid certain types of clothes, or even change their clothes often to avoid the effects of persistent sweating. When prescription strength antiperspirants fail, Botox can be the answer…
When antiperspirants fail, Botox® can be used therapeutically to treat Hyperhidrosis.
Jeuveau® Neurotoxin treatment helps control excessive underarm sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the signals stop, so does the sweating.
The actual treatment takes 15 – 20 minutes. A small amount of Jeuveau® is injected into several areas of the affected underarm through a very fine needle. You should notice a significant reduction in your hyperhidrosis within 4 – 5 days with maximum effects felt up to 4 weeks from the initial day of treatment.
91% of Jeuveau® hyperhidrosis patients achieved at least a 50% reduction in axillary sweating. Botox® neurotoxin treatment is not a cure; symptoms will gradually return. You and your doctor will know when the time is right for your next treatment. The average duration of response is 7 – 8 months. Most patients return once per year for another hyperhidrosis treatment.
Each client will be evaluated by one of our Lubbock physicians to see if Jeuveau® therapy is the correct choice of treatment.
